Starz Cancels ‘BMF’ After Four Seasons — Here’s What Led To The End Of The Hit Crime Drama

Starz Cancels ‘BMF’ After Four Seasons

Starz Officially Pulls The Plug On “BMF”

Starz has officially canceled “BMF” after four powerful seasons, bringing the story of the Flenory brothers to an end.

The show’s fourth and final season premiered in June and wrapped up on August 15 with its tenth episode, “Dreams Deferred.”

While the finale tied up plenty of drama, it ended on a cliffhanger with Big Meech (played by Demetrius Flenory Jr.) being arrested by Detective Von Bryant (Steve Harris).

As fans know, “BMF” is based on the real-life Black Mafia Family, founded by Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi).

The real-life Big Meech’s son portraying his father added an extra layer of authenticity that viewers truly connected with.

What Really Happened Behind The Scenes

Back in March, there were whispers that “BMF” might return for a fifth season.

Starz was reportedly “pleased” with the creative direction of Season 4 and was looking forward to sharing more action-packed episodes.

However, things took a turn when cost-cutting measures came into play.

According to reports, Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch has been scaling back on long-running series to make room for new projects, explaining why several “Power” spin-offs are also wrapping up.

In other words, it’s less about drama and more about dollars.

Still, the off-screen tension between executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and the real-life Big Meech didn’t help calm the waters.

Their fallout dates back years and resurfaced publicly after Meech appeared in a promo alongside Rick Ross, 50’s longtime rival.

Though sources say the feud wasn’t the reason “BMF” was canceled, it did create uncertainty for the cast and crew during production.

What’s Next For The “BMF” Universe

Before the cancellation, 50 Cent had teased a “BMF Immortal” universe to expand the franchise, similar to how he built out the “Power” series.

While Starz hasn’t announced any “BMF” spinoffs yet, Jackson still has several projects with the network, including the upcoming drama “Fightland” and the newly greenlit “Power: Origins” prequel.

So while the “BMF” story may have reached its official conclusion, the world it created could live on through future projects.

One thing’s for sure: fans will keep the legacy of Big Meech and Southwest T alive long after the credits roll.
