On Sunday morning (July 10), Spirit Airlines flight 383 from Tampa to Atlanta caught fire during landing at approximately 9:25 AM.
Spirit Airlines passenger Scottie Nelms said he and other passengers freaked out when they saw a flame coming from the engine.
Once we landed it made a weird noise from the left side of the plane.
Nobody knew what it was until we stopped completely in the middle of the landing strip.
We saw a flame coming from the engine and people and myself started freaking out.
According to Spirit Airlines, the fire was caused by a brake overheating.
Thankfully, no one was injured but passengers were terrified looking out the window and seeing their plane on fire.

This is a terrible look for Spirit Airlines, which already has a shaky reputation.
