South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau Arrested, Charged With First-Degree Burglary & Criminal Trespass

Mayor Khalid Kamau arrested burglary criminal trespass

South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau ended up in the pokey over the weekend after he was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and first-degree burglary.

According to the police report, Kamau told police he was on his way to walk his dog when he passed “his dream home” on Cascade Palmetto Highway.

Mayor Khalid Kamau told police he decided to give the property a look-see and went inside – fully aware that he was trespassing.

Meanwhile, the owner of the home received a notification at 6:52 a.m. alerting him that someone was on the property.

He quickly got dressed as he watched the unknown person walk up the driveway of the home and make their way inside.

The homeowner got in his truck to head over to the property and called the police while in route.

Upon his arrival, the homeowner, with dispatch on the line, approached the property and told Mayor Khalid Kamau to “stay put” as he exited the home.

The homeowner told police that the second time he commanded Kamau to stay put, he responded, “Do you know who the f**k I am? I’m the Mayor, and I’ll wait for my police to get here and see what happens then.”

According to the Mayor Kamau aka Curious George, when he tried to introduce himself to the homeowner, the man cocked his weapon and told him, “If you take another step, I’m going to shoot you.”

Kamau responded, “Are you going to shoot me while I’m walking away?”

When police arrived they arrested him.

South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau charged with criminal trespass and first-degree burglary and booked in the Fulton County Jail with a $11,000 bond.

He was released later that day.

The city released the following statement after the Mayor’s arrest:

The city of South Fulton is committed to upholding the law and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their position, are subject to the same fair and just treatment.

As the investigation is still ongoing, we are unable to provide further details at this time.

It was wildly irresponsible for Mayor Khalid Kamau to purposefully trespass on someone’s property to satisfy his curiosity.

Especially, in a climate where Ahmad Arbery was senselessly killed shortly after looking at a property.
