Nia Drummond went viral by singing Busta Rhymes to tears with her opera rendition of the Happy Birthday song.
Watch the viral video below:
Nia Drummond is a Brooklyn-born singer who has been perfecting her craft since she was 8-years-old.
She has been singing professionally since she was 12.
She sang the national anthem for the 9/11 Memorial, and she’s sung all over the world.
Nia said on the “Tamron Hall ” show that she realized God has a great sense of humor in her life.
God has a great sense of humor in my life, I’ve realized.
You know, I’ve been singing since I was eight years old, and professionally singing since I was 12.
You know, I’ve sung all over the world. You know, I’ve sung the National Anthem for the 9/11 Memorial.
I’ve done all these crazy, incredible things, but it’s funny that at that moment an opera singer, you know, I’m small I’m only 5’2”, was able to touch a man that big.
Nia said she saw Busta Rhymes at the Gordon Parks Foundation annual gala, which was held May 23 in New York City, and she didn’t have a plan when she walked over to him.
So I went to the gala, and it’s interesting because he was… he came after the gala because he had a gig the same day.
So, it’s interesting because I spoke to his personal assistant first.
He showed up to a gala with a sweatsuit on.
I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I love you, I must speak to you.’
And so we had a conversation… found out that he’s Busta’s personal assistant, and found out that Busta’s birthday was a few days ago.
And something in my spirit, I don’t… Something in my soul said, ‘You need to sing Happy Birthday to this man.’
