Ricky Martin was victorious in court after his 21-year-old nephew withdrew his claims of an affair and harassment.
We previously reported that Puerto Rican authorities issued a restraining order against the Grammy Award-winning singer on July 1 under the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act of Puerto Rico.
Ricky’s nephew claimed they were involved in a sexual relationship for seven months and when he ended the relationship, the “Living La Vida Loca” singer began harassing him.
The singer and his attorney stood ten toes down in their denial of the claims and noted that the nephew has some mental health issues.
Ricky Martin attended the hearing via zoom and the judge dismissed the temporary restraining order after the nephew withdrew his claims.
The singer’s legal team said, “Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the court. The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure.”
“And the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter. The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case.”
The legal team added, “This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career.”
While this is a win for Ricky Martin, this isn’t the end of his legal issues.
He has also been sued by his former manager, Rebecca Drucker, for breach of contract for allegedly failing to pay her upwards of $3 million in commissions.
Yikes!
What are your thoughts on the dismissal of Ricky Martin’s case and the accusations against him?
