It’s with shock and sadness that I report Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday afternoon (November 17).
The rapper, real name Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., stopped by Makeda’s Butter Cookies in South Memphis around 1 p.m.
When he walked into the store to buy cookies, someone drove up and fatally shot Young Dolph.
Police and news crews are at the scene of the shooting and a massive crowd has gathered around.
Some are so heartbroken over the senseless shooting that they are laying on the ground in tears.
Dolph is well known in the Memphis community for his charitable efforts.
He regularly hands out turkeys around Thanksgiving, he’s donated money to his former high school Hamilton High School, and he often visits schools to speak to the students.
Young Dolph released his debut album, King of Memphis, in 2016.
He was 36.
An investigation is ongoing and this story is developing.
Please check back for updates.
