Pretty Ricky’s Spectacular Blue Smith was arrested on Monday night and charged with misdeameanor battery for allegedly punching a Disney World employee over a joke about Coronavirus.
Spectacular Blue Smith, 35, was at the Animal Kingdom theme park on Monday night, and as he walked past a Disney employee he pretended to sneeze, and said “coronavirus”, according to an arrest affidavit from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The Disney employee allegedly told Smith that his joke wasn’t funny, and Smith replied, “I thought it was.”
The Disney employee then told Smith, “Then, you’ll think it’s hilarious, if I asked you to step out of the line.”
Smith refused to leave the line and an argument ensued. The Disney worker then put his arm out to prevent Smith from moving up in the line, and Smith “turned and punched him on his right side jaw and right temple area,” according to the affidavit.
The Disney employee told police he fell, and he “was in shock and thought he might’ve lost consciousness.”
The Disney employee was taken to Horizon West Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion.
There were witnesses at the scene that told police that they saw Smith punch the Disney employee, but Smith’s son told police that his dad accidentally hit the Disney employee after losing his balance.
Smith was charged with misdemeanor battery, and his bond was set for $500.
Since the incident Spectacular Blue Smith has released a statement stating that the truth about the incident will be revealed once his lawyer gives him the green light.
Coronavirus is definitely not a joke, but I’m a firm believer in not putting your hands or your opinion where they don’t belong.
How would you have handled this incident from the Disney employee perspective?
