Patrick Mahomes’ mom, Randi Mahomes, and his fiancée, Brittany Matthews, had live Twitter fingers during Super Bowl LV, and they let the world know that they felt the refs were showing favoritism to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Randi Mahomes became so frustrated with the officiating during the game that she tagged Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen (@giseleofficial), in one of her tweets. The tweet below has since been deleted.
I would definitely agree with Randi and Brittany about the refs showing favoritism to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because they issued eight penalties against the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half of the game and they issued only one penalty against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even the commentators questioned a lot of the penalties the refs issued to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half.
I expected the refs to be partial to Tom Brady, but I didn’t expect them to be so blatantly obvious.
ESPN and other sports outlets had been building the Tom Brady hype for two weeks prior to the Super Bowl LV, and the refs made sure they were a part of that hype train in the first half of the game.
Randi and Brittany also took issue with the unfavorable shots of Mahomes that the sports networks showed when the game had gotten far out of reach.
I disagree with Randi and Brittany here because losing is a part of the game and the media is going to show closeups of football stars in defeat and in victory.
In the end, Randi and Brittany accepted the loss and tweeted that they will always be proud of Mahomes knowing that he did his best.
Patrick Mahomes was the MVP of the NFL in his first year, he won the Super Bowl in his second year, and he just lost the Super Bowl to Tom Brady in his third year, he has accomplished more in 3 years than most NFL players accomplish in their entire career.
Patrick Mahomes will comeback stronger and I guarantee he will win many more Super Bowls.
