A Nipsey Hussle documentary, directed by Ava DuVernay, is in the works at Netflix.
On Monday, Deadline reported Netflix won the bidding war for the feature-length documentary about the late great Neighborhood Nip, but it’s only partially true.
According to a statement released by Nipsey’s Marathon team, the documentary, executive produced by RocNation and Nipsey’s children, Emani Asghedom and Kross Asghedom, is in negotiations, but no final deal has been inked.
They also noted that this project will not be fast-tracked for monetary gain or commercial interest because it is too important to his family.
See their statement below:
With Ava DuVernay at the helm, I know Nipsey Hussle’s documentary is in good hands.
I hope the family works out the perfect deal for the documentary.
