Netflix Defends ‘Cuties’ As ‘Social Commentary’ Against Sexualization Of Young Girls

Netflix has apparently decided Cuties is the hill they are will to die on.

The streamer is defending the controversial film as “social commentary” against the sexualization of young girls.

In a statement to Variety, a Netflix spokesperson said:

‘Cuties’ is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children. It’s an award-winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we’d encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie.

Yeah right

#CancelNetflix was the number one trend on Thursday as people reacted to the film, shared their outrage and disgust over scenes in the film that was too much to stomach.

Surprisingly actress Tessa Thompson praised the film as “beautiful.”

I saw a few clips floating around on Twitter and felt like I needed to call CPS and grab my belt at the same damn time.

Several petitions have been launched calling for Netflix to remove the film to no avail.

Netflix’s stock has been impacted by the controversy. It fell by $20 on Thursday.
