Michael Jordan Says He Cannot Delete The Last Text He Received From Kobe Bryant

Michael Jordan revealed this week that he can’t bring himself to delete the text he received from Kobe Bryant on Dec. 8, 2019, because it reminds him of Kobe’s competitive nature.

In the text exchange, Kobe complimented MJ’s new tequila, asked about his family, and commented about his daughter Gianna’s basketball team’s huge lead in a game he was coaching.

The text exchange went as follows:

KB: This tequila is awesome!

MJ: Thank you, my brother.

KB: Yes, sir. Family good?

MJ: All good. Yours?”

KB: All good.

MJ: Happy holidays, and hope to catch up soon. Coach Kobe??!

KB: Ah, back at you, man.

KB: Hey, coach, I’m sitting on the bench right now, and we’re blowing this team out. 45-8.

Michael Jordan said he loves that text, and he can’t delete it.

I just love that text because it shows Kobe’s competitive nature.

I don’t know why, but I just can’t delete it.

MJ and Kobe shared a special bond that I’m not sure many fans knew about.

Kobe would call MJ all the time to inquire about tips to improve his game, and he said MJ always took his calls.

Kobe emulated MJ, and he relished the moments they competed against each other on the court.

Vanessa Bryant chose Michael Jordan to present Kobe Bryant at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame ceremonies this Saturday in Massachusetts.

MJ said he would be honored to present Kobe.

It’s like standing up for a family member.

He paid me the highest respect by trying to emulate certain things I did.

And I can only repay that by showing my support and admiration for a guy who I felt was one of the greatest to ever play the game.
