Masika Kalysha Heartbroken Over Estranged Husband Jamar Champ’s Tragic Death
Masika Kalysha is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her estranged husband, Jamar Champ, who tragically passed away following a wrong way crash in Texas early Tuesday morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, the 38-year-old entrepreneur was driving a silver Tesla Cybertruck on the West Interstate Highway 10 just after midnight when a silver BMW traveling the wrong way struck his vehicle head-on.
Champ’s car then collided with an 18-wheeler, while the BMW caught fire on impact.
Both drivers were killed in the crash, though the identity of the BMW driver has not yet been released.
Remembering Jamar Champ
Jamar, best known for founding The Champ Academy, was reportedly in critical condition when rushed to the hospital before being pronounced dead.
He leaves behind his and Masika’s 3-year-old daughter, Amari.
When the couple tied the knot in 2021, Champ also became stepfather to Masika’s daughter Khari, whom she shares with rapper Fetty Wap.
The reality TV personality and her husband separated in 2023 after a highly publicized relationship that began in 2020.
Masika Speaks Out Amid Grief
In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Masika Kalysha hinted at her devastating loss, writing, “God woke me up at 2:00am… I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why. Jesus Christ… Pray for me and my kids please.”
She later posted a tearful video on Instagram, pleading for privacy during this deeply painful time.
“Word spreads fast to children,” she explained. “Although my kids aren’t on social media, their friends are, and their parents are. I don’t want my kids to find out at school before I can tell them.”
Masika also asked media outlets to be mindful and respectful when covering Jamar’s death.
A Difficult Journey Of Love And Loss
The “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” alum revealed last year that she was in mediation with her “soon-to-be ex-husband,” describing the process as “vicious.”
Despite their separation, it’s clear that Jamar’s passing has left Masika completely shattered.
