Kool & The Gang Co-Founder Dennis ‘Dee Tee’ Thomas Passes Away At 70

We are sad to report Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, co-founder of the legendary band, Kool & The Gang, passed away on Saturday (August 7).

He was 70.

According to those close to him, Dee Tee passed away in his sleep at his home in Montclair, New Jersey.

Dee Tee was one of the founding members of the group, and he is survived by his wife Phynjuar Saunders, and his three children, Tuesday Rankin, David Thomas, and Devin Thomas.

Dee Tee was primarily known as the saxophonist in the group, but he wore many hats.

He was a flutist, percussionist, stylist, and the MC at the band’s shows.

Kool & The Gang released an official statement in regards to Dee Tee’s passing below.
