Juneteenth Is Officially A Federal Holiday, But D.L. Hughley Says ‘Black People Asked For Justice’

D.L. Hughley said, “Black people asked for justice and what we got was a holiday,” and he doesn’t feel making Juneteenth a new federal holiday levels the playing field.

Watch the video below:

D.L. Hughley does have a lot of valid points, but he reminds me of that “woke” friend who doesn’t see the good in anything.

Juneteenth is the first new federal holiday established since 1983 with MLK day.

While DL was ranting, the Congressional Black Congress was singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” on Capitol Hill.

Watch the video below:

President Biden officially signed the bill today (6/17/2021) establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day.

The holiday derives from June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger rode to Galveston, Texas and informed a group of slaves the war was over and they were free. Unbeknownst to the slaves, President Lincoln had abolished slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863.

Texas didn’t get the memo.

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris admitted that even though the holiday shows how far America has come as a nation, we still have a long way to go on the road to equality for all.

Unlike D.L., Usher understood the importance of the moment, as he was spotted at the White House to take in the historic event.

I wonder if he had any Usher Bucks on him.

Do you agree with D.L. Hughley?
