Ja Morant scored a slam dunk in court on Tuesday when a judge ruled the NBA star punched Joshua Holloway in self-defense.
Holloway, who was 17 at the time, filed a lawsuit against the Memphis Grizzlies star in September 2022, claiming he was assaulted during a pickup basketball game at Ja’s home in Tennessee.
According to Joshua, he threw the ball at Ja Morant and accidentally hit him in the face.
He claims Ja became enraged and punched him with a closed fist.
During court proceedings in December 2023, Ja argued he acted in self-defense.

After reviewing the case and testimonies from all parties, a Shelby County judge handed down a 44-page ruling that concluded Ja Morant acted in self-defense.
While this development doesn’t dismiss the case, which is scheduled for trial this month, it does provide Ja with an advantage as the proceedings progress.
Joshua Holloway’s attorney Rebecca Adelman told ESPN, “We’re disappointed and we will continue to take the steps necessary to protect and advocate for Joshua.”
