Iman Shumpert was arrested on Saturday at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport after he was caught with a “sizeable” amount of marijuana in his backpack.
The former NBA star and actor on “The Chi” was set to board a flight to Los Angeles at 3 p.m. but TSA screeners discovered a plastic bag filled with a “green leafy substance” in his bag.
Iman Shumpert admitted it was weed.
Police say the substance weighed 6.12 ounces. A mobile test confirmed it was indeed marijuana.
Shump expressed his concern about missing the flight to Los Angeles to see his daughters, but the responding officer informed him that he was definitely not going to make the trip because he was being placed under arrest for marijuana possession.
Officers also claim Iman had a Glock magazine and 14 9mm rounds in his backpack, but he did not have a gun.
Iman Shumpert was charged with a “State Jail Felony,” which means he could face up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
The 32-year-old, who is married to Teyana Taylor, did not address his arrest publicly, but he did share a clip from “Iman Amongst Men,” where he discusses his journey to becoming more than an athlete.
