Halle Berry recently revealed she experienced a horrible Herpes scare caused by symptoms of perimenopause.

Halle Berry Recalls Health Scare Caused By Perimenopause

The Oscar-winning actress shared her Story Time while speaking about women’s health with First Lady Jill Biden at Monday’s A Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Halle began by admitting that her ego led her to believe she wouldn’t even experience menopause.

First of all, my ego told me that I was going to skip it — I’m very safe, I’m healthy, I managed to get myself off of insulin and manage my diabetes since I’m 20 years old,” she said.

But, at the age of 54, Halle Berry said she “finally met the man of my dreams” when she began dating singer/songwriter Van Hunt.

Halle shared that they were having A LOT of sex causing the First Lady to jokingly chime in saying, “I didn’t know she was going to tell this story. I’m not talking about mine!”

The actress, who is slated to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in the Netflix film, The Union, went on to open up about her herpes scare!

Halle Berry recalled having extreme pain after sex with Van Hunt and she went to the doctor.

The physician told her she had the worst case of herpes he’d ever seen.

Halle and Van immediately got tested and neither of them had herpes.

The pain was caused by vaginal dryness.

I realized after the fact that is a symptom of perimenopause.

She continued, “My doctor had no knowledge and didn’t prepare me, that’s when I knew, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve got to use my platform, I have to use all of who I am and I have to start making a change and a difference for other women.‘”

**First of all, who is the doctor? He should have to surrender his medical license if he believes vaginal dryness is herpes.**

Halle Berry has stood on business when it comes to perimenopause and menopause making it her mission to educate women and reframe conversations around it.

What Is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause is like the run-up to menopause. Menopause itself is when periods stop. During perimenopause, you’ll notice changes in your cycle, plus other physical and emotional symptoms. This stage can go on for anywhere from 2 to 10 years.

Symptoms Of Perimenopause

No two women will experience perimenopause the same way as your body is uniquely yours.

However, here are a few common symptoms:

  • Mood changes
  • Changes in sexual desire
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Headaches
  • Night sweats
  • Hot flashes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Trouble with sleep
  • Joint and muscle aches
  • Heavy sweating
  • Having to pee often
  • PMS-like symptoms

Also, please note that some symptoms of perimenopause may look like other conditions (like in Halle Berry’s case).

Always talk with a qualified healthcare provider for a diagnosis.
