Singer GIVĒON Says He Unsent A DM To SZA After He Became Famous

GIVĒON recently told a funny story about meeting SZA while going to a restaurant interview and unsending her a DM once he became famous.

He told the story as a guest on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and he left some parts of the story out to save him some embarrassment, but Jimmy made sure he told the whole story.

GIVĒON said he happened to run into SZA while going to his third interview for Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.

So, my third interview for the restaurant… Yes, third!

I don’t know why Bubba Gump requires three interviews for some reason.

So, I’m walking into the third interview and I just see SZA walking.

And I ambush her like, ‘Hi.’

Just was rambling out the words. I don’t even remember everything I said, but then I said too much.

But she was extremely nice.

But I got the job, though.

GIVĒON intentionally left out that he sang for SZA before his interview, but Jimmy quickly reminded him to tell the whole story.

Yes, I sang for her, okay? I was gonna leave that part out.

I was singing for her, and she was just like, ‘This guy’s singing.’

He said SZA came to one of his shows years later, and he told her the story, but she was like, ‘Oh, I don’t remember.’

So, I went on Instagram and unsent the DM that I sent her.

He said the DM that he sent her in 2014 read:

Hi. My name is GIVĒON. I was the kid at Long Beach Bubba Gump. Do you remember me?

He said he took it off so if SZA ever brings it up he can be like, “I don’t know what you talking about.”

GIVĒON also spoke about the technical difficulties he had with his microphone at the “2022 BET Awards” Sunday (June 26), and he joked that BET sabotaged his microphone.
