George Floyd‘s niece, Brook Williams, delivered an emotional and passionate speech during his funeral service in Houston on Tuesday (June 9).
Brook addressed hate crimes, systemic racism, and social inequality as she stated:
These laws need to be changed. No more hate crimes — please.
Someone said, ‘Make America great again’, but when has America ever been great?
Brook spoke on Derek Chauvin, the officer charged with 2nd-degree murder in her uncle’s killing, saying:
The officer took no remorse while watching my uncle’s soul leave his body. He begged and pleaded many times just for you to get up, but you just pushed harder.
This is not just murder but a hate crime.
