Chicago Pharmacist Charged With Selling COVID-19 Vaccination Cards On Ebay

The Department of Justice announced a Chicago pharmacist was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly selling blank vaccination cards online.

Tangtang Zhao, 34, stole the cards from a Chicago clinic where he was employed and sold them on Ebay for $10 each.

According to the criminal indictment, 11 people purchased the cards, including one person who scooped 17 cards in April.

Tangtang Zhao allegedly made about $1,200 in sales.

Special Agent in Charge Emmerson Buie Jr. said in a statement:

Knowingly selling COVID vaccination cards to unvaccinated individuals puts millions of Americans at risk of serious injury or death.

To put such a small price on the safety of our nation is not only an insult to those who are doing their part in the fight to stop COVID-19, but a federal crime with serious consequences.

Zhao has been charged with 12 counts of theft of government property and faced up to 10 years in prison for each count.
