Charles Barkley Says NBA & NFL Players Should Be Prioritized For COVID Vaccine Because They Pay More Taxes

Charles Barkley has put his foot in his mouth again with a statement he made prioritizing athletes’ health because they pay more taxes.

According to Barkley, NBA, NFL, and NHL athletes deserve preferential treatment with COVID-19 vaccines because they pay more taxes.

We need 300 million shots, give a thousand to some NBA players … NFL players, hockey players. As much taxes as these players pay, they deserve some preferential treatment.

Barkley made the statement on a post-game edition of “Inside The NBA” last night after the Warriors vs. Nuggets game.

Co-host Kenny Smith tried to tell Barkley that he doesn’t think it’s fair to prioritize athletes in a “life or death” situation because they make more money.

Chuck swiftly responded back that he is talking about paying more in taxes not making more money, not realizing in that moment that making more money is equivalent to paying more taxes.

The commissioners of the NBA (Adam Silver) and the NFL (Roger Goodell) have already shot down the idea of prioritizing their players for the COVID-19 vaccine over essential workers and the elderly.

Barkley is entitled to his opinion, but he should’ve known this wouldn’t go over well.
