Bow Wow recently appeared on Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast and clarified his mother giving him away at six years old.
…For my mom it was like this the opportunity of a lifetime.
My mom grew up on gangsta rap, that’s all she played.
So it was like, ‘This is it, like, this could be the thing,’ and then of course my mom met Snoop’s background singer.
She met Nancy and they spoke, and she was like, ‘Yo, I got him! Like, don’t even worry about it. I got him!
You looking for him T. He one flight away, one call, imma hold it down.
But, this kid is special, and he gonna blow.
Snoop want him close.’
You know what I’m saying?… And once my mom was like, ‘Alright, y’all gonna take care of my baby, cool!’
And that was it. I never looked back.
Bow Wow told a crazy story about Snoop Dogg’s background singer taking him to South Central to visit her friends, and when they got there, he saw a neighborhood full of kids.
There weren’t any kids where Snoop’s background singer lived at.
So he called his mom and told her he wanted to stay in South Central with Snoop’s background singer friends.
He moved in and lived with them for about a year and a half, and he loved it.
Being so young, he was oblivious to gang culture.
Things started moving slow with the music because Dr. Dre had left Death Row Records and Snoop was halfway out the door.
So he called his mom and told her he was ready to come back home to go to school because he felt like things were over musically.
She sent him the tickets to come back home to Ohio.
The people he was living with took him to the airport, and when they returned home, they were murdered.
Bow Wow said he’s sure they would’ve got him too if he was in the house.
