It looks like we may end up waiting a little longer for the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The film is temporarily shutting down production due to the severity of the injury Letitia Wright sustained over the summer.
We previously reported Letitia, who plays the character, Shuri, the sister of Black Panther T’Challa, was hospitalized in August after she was injured while shooting a sequence involving a stunt rig on-location in Boston.
At the time, a statement was released saying her injury was minor and it would not impact the production of the film.
Turns out, they have been filming around her character for months after she returned to London to continue her recovery.
Director Ryan Coogler is said to have shot all footage that his crew is able to without Wright.
A rep for Letitia Wright released the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022.
Letitia kindly asks that you keep her in your prayers.
Based on this statement, production will be halted until after the new year.
At this time, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated to be released in November 2022.
I’m not sure that is going to happen.
