Houston and Hip Hop is mourning the loss of one of its most vibrant musical talents, BeatKing, also known as Club Godzilla, who passed away at the age of 39.
His manager, Tasha Felder, confirmed the sad news on Instagram, revealing that BeatKing, whose real name was Justin Riley, died on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
While the cause of death has been attributed to a pulmonary embolism, further details have not been disclosed.

BeatKing was a beloved figure in the club scene, known for his infectious beats and larger-than-life personality.
His impact on the music industry was undeniable, with a career that spanned over a decade. He leaves behind two daughters, who he adored deeply.
“Today, we lost @Clubgodzilla. BeatKing has been the heart of the club for over a decade, and his sound will forever live on,” Felder shared. “He loved his daughters, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.”
BeatKing first gained widespread attention in 2010 with his album “Kings of the Club,” but it was his 2020 hit “Then Leave” that took TikTok and Houston airwaves by storm.
Just last month, he released his latest album, “Never Leave Houston On A Sunday,” showcasing his enduring influence in the music world.
Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow artists, including Bun B and members of Three 6 Mafia, who remembered him as a talented artist and devoted father.
Bun B wrote on Instagram, “We lost a great-spirited person. BeatKing was a talented artist and a loving father.”
BeatKing was recently seen performing in Houston during Nicki Minaj‘s tour stop at the Toyota Center in May, leaving fans with one last unforgettable memory of his dynamic stage presence.
