18 years later, two men will be charged with the 2002 killing of Jam Master Jay of the pioneering Hip Hop group, Run-DMC.

Jay, real name Jason Mizell, was murdered inside of a Queen recording studio.

Over the years, people have questioned who could have committed the crime and the motive behind the senseless killing.

If you’ve been following this case for almost two decades the names of the men being charged with come as no shock to you.

Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan, Jr. were indicted on charges of murder while engaged in drug trafficking, according to two law enforcement sources.

Washington, 56, is currently serving a federal prison sentence for robbery and Jordan, 36, was taken into custody on Sunday.

US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York unsealed a criminal indictment alleging that Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington conspired to kill Jam Master Jay in retaliation for a drug dispute.

Via CNN:

The indictment alleges that Jam Master Jay was involved in transporting kilogram-quantities of cocaine between 1996 and 2002 alongside his music career.

In July 2002, he acquired about 10 kilograms of cocaine, which was intended to be distributed by Washington, Jordan and others, the indictment states. But a dispute between Washington and a co-conspirator led Jam Master Jay to tell Washington he would be cut out of the transaction, the indictment states.

Washington and Jordan then conspired to kill him, the indictment states. On October 30, they entered Jam Master Jay’s recording studio with firearms, and Jordan fatally shot Mizell in the head and shot another man in the leg, according to the indictment.

Jordan and Washington are each charged with murder while engaged in narcotics trafficking and firearm-related murder.

Hopefully, the case of who killed Jam Master Jay will be solved once and for all to give his family the justice and closure they deserve.
