“After Happily Ever After,” the new dating reality series from BET, had the streets of Twitter buzzing during its one-hour premiere on Wednesday night.
The show features seven former couples who were in long-term relationships that ended in divorce or separation.
The exes play matchmakers for their former partners in hopes of helping them find new love and a reason to move on.
“Mr. 106 & Park” himself, Shad “Bow Wow” Moss serves as host for the eight-episode reality dating series, which was filmed in Kentucky.
In each episode, Bow Wow throws a Singles Party and invites a group of singles for the daters.
But, only the ex-spouses attend the party to mix and mingle with the singles to determine if they think any of the singles will be a good match for their former partner.
The exes invite one of the prospects to move into the house to date their former spouse for 48 hours.
At the end of the 48 hours, the dater decides if they will keep the prospect their ex chose for them or send them back to the singles pool so that they can meet someone new.
The cast for the show includes “Prison Bae” turned actor Jeremy Meeks (dater) and his ex-wife, Melissa Meeks.
“Love & Hip Hop” stars Peter Gunz (dater), his baby mama Tara Wallace (dater), and his ex-wife Amina Buddafly are also on the show and it’s giving exactly what we thought it would.
Peter and Tara still have unreconciled feelings for one another and it was on full display when Tara popped off on Peter’s first prospect.
Amina is clearly conflicted while trying to convince another woman that Peter Gunz is a catch when she knows better.
Additional cast members include Nicole Ward (dater) and “Mike Mike” Phillips (ex), Amarachi Odinma (dater) and Ugo Maduka (ex), Pam Taylor (dater) and Troy Taylor (ex), Justin Vorise (dater) and Nani Rivero (ex), YouTuber Jayla Koriyan (dater), singer and actress Shar Jackson (dater), and comedian Gary “G Thang” Johnson (dater).
“After Happily Ever After” is just as messy and nonsensical as you expected it to be and Twitter is here for all of it.
