The Matrix Resurrections trailer has just dropped and while it’s sparked excitement in fans of the franchise, it has also left folks disappointment over the absence of Laurence Fishburne!

In The Matrix Resurrections, Yahya Abdul Mateen II appears to be the new Morpheus, and while he’s an incredible actor…it’s a huge adjustment for the O.G. Matrix fans.
Peep a few tweets about it below.
You may recall, last year, Laurence Fishburne told New York Magazine that he was not “invited” to be a part of the new Matrix.
I have not been invited. Maybe that will make me write another play. I wish them well. I hope it’s great.
It is probably the role that I’ll be best remembered for, which is great; it’s not the only thing I’ll be remembered for, which is better.
I am sad that Laurence was excluded. But, I am also happy for Yahya.
