The Wendy’s assistant manager who was caught on video calling his Black employee a “b**ch” has been fired.

The employee is a general manager in training named Sophia Cargill.

The Wendy’s is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Sophia recorded Mike on her phone calling her the expletive, and shared the video on TikTok, which caught the attention of comedian D.L. Hughley, who reposted the video on his IG to give it more exposure.

The video has over 700k views.

The interesting thing is Sophia says she was suspended, without pay, and Mike kept working during the investigation.

Watch the video below:

The incident took place two weeks ago, and Sophia said she had made complaints of a hostile work environment prior to this incident but nothing was done.

A Wendy’s spokesperson stated they have no tolerance for harassment in the workplace.

We have no tolerance for harassment in the workplace. Upon learning of this situation, we acted immediately following our protocols and suspended those involved to run a thorough investigation.

According to Sophia, Mike did not get suspended initially. Sophia also said her earlier complaints received no response.

The Wendy’s spokesperson said Mike has been fired and Sophia has been reinstated with back pay.

Sophia doesn’t plan to return to Wendy’s, and she has started a GoFundMe to support her while she looks for another job.

Her GoFundMe reads:

…This happened to me at work I was told I may not receive compensation for my suspension from work due to me reporting a hostile work environment. I am the General manager in training this person here is the assistant manager he does not want me to become the general manager and he made it hard for me while in training. I endured multiple occasions that I reported to the general manager and nothing was done. I got suspended but This is just the only one I got on film. I’m unsure if I want to return to Wendy’s. I’m asking for help during my transition and I’m debating returning because this problem is systemic I’m traumatized and this is why I’m unsure of my return to Wendy’s. Thank you for any help in advance. I’m hiring a lawyer! And protecting me and my mental health.

She also attached the video of the incident to her GoFundMe.

Reportedly, Sophia Cargill overcame homelessness, pregnancy, and a shooting to complete her school education.

She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 2013, and she decided to attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

Shout out to Sophia for keeping her cool, and handling the situation with intelligence and grace.
