What Happened In Buckhead
Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson is in hot water after failing to turn himself in to Georgia police following a tragic dog attack.
Authorities say one or more of his Cane Corso mastiffs mauled a neighbor’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to death on September 18.
The Fulton County Police Department had already received multiple complaints about Gibson’s large dogs roaming freely in the neighborhood.
Captain Nicole Dwyer confirmed Gibson was given “multiple warnings” prior to the fatal incident.
The Deadly Incident
Harrison Parker, the owner of the dog named Henry, told WSB-TV 2 he had just let Henry outside into the yard with its invisible fence.
Moments later, he returned to find the 5-year-old pup fatally injured in the driveway.
Court documents allege Henry suffered internal bleeding and puncture wounds.
“Not hearing him around, it’s just awful,” Parker said.
“He was one of the sweetest dogs and to have him get murdered is, it’s indescribable.”
Tyrese Gibson Misses Deadline To Turn Himself In
Police executed a search warrant at Gibson’s property on September 22 but did not find him or the dogs, according to Fox5 Atlanta.
An arrest warrant for alleged cruelty to animals was later issued.
Authorities say Gibson had been told to surrender by September 26 but missed the deadline.
“According to his attorney he is getting his affairs in order but he has known he has a warrant for over a week,” Dwyer explained.
His Response Through Attorney
Gibson’s attorney, Gabe Banks, said the actor is cooperating with authorities to resolve the matter responsibly.
Banks also confirmed that Gibson rehomed his mastiffs and extended condolences to the family who lost Henry.
“He extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home.”
Tyrese Gibson Speaks Out On Instagram
On Wednesday (October 1), Tyrese Gibson broke his silence directly, posting a lengthy statement to Instagram where he described himself as a lifelong dog lover and expressed his heartbreak over the tragedy.
After nearly 40 years of being a passionate dog lover—raising everything from Pomeranians, Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Maltese, to larger breeds like Shar Peis—my dogs have only ever been treated as family.
They’ve never been trained to harm, never spent a single day in attack or protection training, and they’ve grown up playing with kids and smaller dogs in my home.
“That’s why this incident has left me shocked, devastated, and heartbroken for the family affected.
As an empath, my heart hurts deeply for their unimaginable loss, and I’ve been trying to reach out directly to express my sorrow and condolences.”
Tyrese also shared that he is currently in Los Angeles with his family, mourning the loss of his father just 15 days ago, and clarified that the media has been circulating stock photos of Cane Corso dogs that are not his.
This is not about me. This is about the family that’s dealing with a very unexpected tragedy.
May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to cover their family and my family. No one wanted or expected to wake up to any of this.

Concerns For Community Safety
Authorities say their main concern is community safety, especially given the history of Gibson’s dogs getting loose.
“Our priority is the safety of the community and when there’s so many incidents of dogs, especially large dogs like this, getting out and then killing an animal, you know, what’s next? A child?” Dwyer said.
While investigators continue to work through the case, neighbors are mourning the loss of Henry and waiting to see what happens next for Tyrese Gibson.
