Tyrese is in the clink!
The 45-year-old R&B singer and actor was arrested on Monday for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, as ordered by the court.
Judge Kevin M. Farmer found Tyrese in contempt of court for not making the $10,000 monthly payments, which were mandated back in April 2023.
The bailiff placed the 1992 actor in handcuffs and escorted him out of the courtroom.
The good news for Tyrese is that he can avoid sitting in general population if he makes a $73,000 payment today, which includes $7,500 for Samantha’s attorney fees.
The “Sweet Lady” singer seemed to anticipate the possibility of being arrested, as he posted a statement on Instagram, calling out the legal situation:
“Samantha’s lawyer, Adam Gleklen, and William Alexander, who are besties with the judge, Kevin M. Farmer—[collusion]—we are APPEALING ALL OF HIS RULINGS AND HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO GET THIS JUDGE THROWN OFF THE BENCH TWICE. The second time, we tried to get him recused, but he actually denied his own request to step down. Imagine that? It’s pretty clear they hate my guts, but I must remind them, and everyone, about my life and my success. I’ve worked my ass off since I was 14 to get here.”
Tyrese and Samantha Lee tied the knot in 2017, welcoming their daughter, Soraya, in October 2018.
Two years later, the couple announced their divorce, and Tyrese has been an Angry Bird about it ever since.
