Toya Turner is saying goodbye to “Chicago P.D.”

The actress, who joined the NBC crime drama in Season 12 as Officer Kiana Cook, took to social media to share that she will not return for Season 13.

“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of… I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.” — Toya Turner via Instagram

She thanked the cast, crew, and fans (ChiHards) for their support and closed her post with excitement about new opportunities ahead.

Inside Officer Kiana Cook’s Storyline

Turner made her debut early in Season 12 as Officer Kiana Cook, a former tactical officer demoted to patrol after calling out her supervisor’s laziness.

Her sharp instincts and work ethic quickly caught the attention of Intelligence, and she helped crack the case involving the death of Detective Emily Martel.

She was eventually recruited by Voight (Jason Beghe) and worked closely with Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), and Officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar).

Her backstory was explored in Episode 9, “Friends and Family,” when Kiana reconnects with her estranged mother (Marie-Francoise Theodore) to secure ransom money for a case.

The tension between them stemmed from her mother’s disapproval of her career choice.

Cast Reactions and Missed Opportunities

At the ATX TV Festival, Marina Squerciati shared her desire for more screen time with Turner, saying she saw potential for a mentor-mentee relationship between Burgess and Cook.

“I really love Toya… She’s a fresh voice on the show. I’d love to see that grow.” — Marina Squerciati to Deadline

Tracy Spiridakos exited as Detective Hailey Upton in the Season 11 finale, and Jesse Lee Soffer departed earlier as Jay Halstead.

Chicago Fire” will also lose cast members Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett for Season 14.
