Comedian and host Tommy Miles opens up about “Ready To Love” Season 11, Detroit’s energy, and his powerful health journey.

Finding Love, Laughs, and Lessons with Tommy Miles

If you’ve ever watched “Ready To Love,” you know the heartbeat of the show isn’t just the singles looking for connection, it’s the man guiding them through it.

I recently caught up with comedian and host Tommy Miles, aka “Nephew Tommy,” and let me tell you, this conversation was everything: funny, real, and filled with the kind of wisdom only he can deliver.

With Season 11 premiering on Friday, November 7 on OWN, Tommy shared how the show continues to evolve, why Detroit brought the heat this season, and how his personal journey through thyroid cancer changed his outlook on life and love.

Keeping It Real On “Ready To Love”

When I congratulated Tommy on “Ready To Love” earning two Reality Television Award nominations, his gratitude was immediate.

“It feels good,” he said. “We’ve been around for a long time now, and just to become a household name feels great. Everybody knows we don’t sugarcoat nothing. It is what it is, either you’re gonna find love or you’re not. If nothing else, you found out who you are.”

That honesty is exactly what makes “Ready To Love” special.

Tommy doesn’t just host, he mentors.

“When I see that I’m helping somebody make a connection, that’s the biggest reward for me,” he explained.

“If you genuinely want it, I’m gonna pull you to the side, and we gonna chit chat, we gonna see how to get you there.”

After 25 years of marriage, he’s earned the right to give love advice.

“I tell my wife all the time, I gotta die first, ’cause I ain’t gonna be able to live without you,” he said with a laugh.

Season 11: Detroit Style And Surprises

Tommy couldn’t hide his excitement about the new season.

“Put your seatbelt on,” he warned with a grin. “Detroit brought it to the table. I wasn’t expecting how much style they had. They came in dressed!”

And one thing Tommy Miles knows is how to get fly…thanks to his stylist.

“Every time I show up, Veronica, my stylist in Atlanta, has me clean,” Tommy said proudly.

He teased one scene viewers won’t want to miss.

“Next time we talk, just remember what Tommy looked like at the Motown party.”

Consider that officially pinned.

The Man Behind The Laughter: Tommy Miles’ Story Of Strength

Beyond the humor and matchmaking, Tommy Miles opened up about his battle with thyroid cancer and why he’s become an advocate for men’s health.

“When I found out I had cancer, I tried to go in for surgery quick before everybody found out,” he recalled. “But it wound up being a nine-hour surgery. I was in the hospital for three weeks.”

The experience changed him.

“Once I let everybody know, I felt so much better,” he said.

“We as Black men, we’re so big on being strong. But once you start talking about it, once you let the world know what you’ve been through, you realize how powerful it is to share.”

His message to men is clear.

“Don’t be scared. Go get yourself checked. Stop asking your homeboy for medicine, go to the doctor. Your body’s talking to you, you just have to listen.”

Looking Ahead

Before we wrapped, Tommy Miles hinted there might be something else brewing beyond “Ready To Love.”

“I got something laying in the cut,” he teased. “But when I’m ready to drop it, you gotta let me come back so we can talk about it.”

You already know our door is always open to Tommy Miles.
