The Dutchman Trailer Serves A Psychological Thriller With Bite
Frens, The Dutchman trailer has arrived, and it immediately pulled me into a dark and twisty ride through identity, manipulation, and the kind of danger that hides in plain sight.
This one looks like it’s ready to get under our skin in the best way.
What To Know About ‘The Dutchman‘
The Dutchman brings Amiri Baraka’s Obie Award-winning play into a bold, modern psychological thriller that explores race, identity, desire, and the power dynamics that haunt America.
André Holland stars as Clay, a successful but emotionally conflicted Black businessman fighting to save his marriage.
When his therapist starts popping up outside of sessions, and a mysterious woman on a New York subway train starts unraveling his entire life, things spiral fast.
The cast is stacked with Kate Mara, Zazie Beetz, Aldis Hodge, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
With Andre Gaines directing and co-writing the screenplay with Qasim Basir, this one looks like it’s leaning all the way into tension, seduction, and psychological warfare.

My Thoughts On ‘The Dutchman’ Trailer
This trailer has my full attention.
First things first, I will be on time for this film based on the cast alone.
They had me at André Holland.
I’m a huge fan, and Aldis Hodge is the cherry on top.
Zazie is my girl, and I can see from the trailer Kate Mara is serving red-lipped destruction and chaos.
If this anxiety-inducing trailer is any indication of how good this film is going to be, consider me seated with an extra-large popcorn!

Why ‘The Dutchman‘ Stands Out
Between André Holland’s gripping performance and the claustrophobic New York setting, the energy feels unsettling in a way that instantly makes you lean in.
The thriller elements paired with themes of race and identity make this one feel timely and layered, but still wildly entertaining.
The Dutchman looks ready to give us something meaty to dissect when it hits theaters.
The Dutchman opens January 2, 2026, and will be playing only in theaters nationwide.
