I knew HBO had another hit bubbling, but the way TASK took off this year is wild in the best way.

Today in New York City, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, officially announced that the gripping drama “TASK” has been renewed for Season 2.

From creator Brad Ingelsby, the mastermind behind “Mare of Easttown,” this series has had viewers hooked every week with its tense storytelling, layered characters, and award-level performances.

And let’s be honest.

“TASK” was without a doubt one of the best dramas of 2025, so it’s only right that HBO brings it back for another season.

If you missed the wave, all episodes of Season 1 are already streaming on HBO.

Why “TASK” Has Become One Of HBO’s Biggest Hits

The success of “TASK” has been nothing short of impressive.

It is now among HBO’s top three fastest-growing debut seasons.

GQ crowned it “the show of the year,” Entertainment Weekly praised its “phenomenal cast,” and The Wall Street Journal stamped it as “one of the year’s best crime thrillers.”

When publications across the board start singing in harmony, you know a show is cooking with hot grease.

Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO Programming, shared how rewarding it has been to watch audiences embrace the series week after week.

She highlighted how rare it is for a writer to balance emotional depth with explosive plotting, but Brad Ingelsby makes it look effortless.

The Creative Force Behind “TASK”

Brad Ingelsby, the creator, showrunner, executive producer, and writer, gave HBO major props for championing the series from day one.

He called HBO an unmatched creative home and expressed how excited the entire “TASK” team is to get back to work for Season 2.

Season 1 stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton.

A cast packed like that guarantees powerhouse performances.

What Happened In Season 1 Of “TASK”?

The first season takes viewers into the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia where Mark Ruffalo plays an FBI agent heading a Task Force determined to stop a string of violent robberies.

The twist comes when the person orchestrating the crime ring turns out to be an unsuspecting family man played by Tom Pelphrey, adding tension and unpredictability to every episode.

“TASK” On HBO Is Just Getting Started

With Season 2 officially on the way, fans can look forward to more high stakes, emotional depth, and storytelling that grabs you and refuses to let go.

I’m definitely ready to see where “TASK” goes next, and I know I’m not alone.
