Stephen A. Smith - Shannon Sharpe calls him Skip

Stephen A. Smith took to Twitter to defend his friend and “First Take” guest co-host Shannon Sharpe after he accidentally called him “Skip” again during the show.

The slip occurred when the fellas (and Molly Qerim) were discussing Kadarious Toney trolling the Giants after their blowout loss to the Cowboys on September 10.

Shannon began by saying, “I agree with everything you just said. Cause he needs to stay his a** off of social media. Because here’s the thing, Skip…”

Shannon Sharpe was visibly frustrated by the slip and banged both fists on the desk as he yelled, “DAMN!”

Just as he did the previous week, Stephen A. Smith was understanding and supportive – telling Shannon, “It’s alright. It’s okay…my man. Seven years, bro. It’s okay. Don’t listen – don’t worry about them trolls. We good.

Molly added, “Don’t break that bracelet. That’s what I’m more concerned about.”

Of course, the Petty Posse quickly uploaded the clip to Twitter to get their laughs and jokes off.

Stephen A. Smith quickly cut through the noise and told folks to “calm the f**k down!”

Will folks calm the F$&@ down please. The man (@ShannonSharpe) worked with Skip for 2 1/2 hours every single weekday for 6 1/2 YEARS! I’m surprised he hasn’t called me Skip more. Honest mistake.

Nobody is fazed this way! So long as he shows up to @FirstTake when I ask, we are good! #TRUST

As I said before, with change, there needs to be grace for adjustment.

It takes 21 days to create a habit – imagine trying to break a 7-year habit in less than two weeks.

Shannon Sharpe is a professional. He’s got this!

I so appreciate Stephen A. Smith for creating a safe environment for Shannon’s new normal.
