In a show of support for Vice President Kamala Harris, a new group humorously named “White Dudes for Harris” held its inaugural event on Monday night.
Among the supporters was Jeff Bridges, famously known as “The Dude” from The Big Lebowski, who enthusiastically joined the rally.

The event, a star-studded Zoom call, attracted over 180,000 participants and raised nearly $4 million, according to the organizers.
These organizers, a group of white male Democratic political operatives, emphasized the importance of this gathering, jokingly contrasting their trucker caps with less savory historical white male gatherings.
“Throughout American history, when white men organized, it was often with pointy hats on,” quipped Ross Morales Rocketto, one of the event’s organizers, before expressing pride in the current group of supportive white men.
Bridges shared his excitement about the initiative, saying, “I qualify, man! I’m white, I’m a dude, and I’m for Harris. A woman president, man, how exciting!”

The call also featured several prominent figures Harris is considering as her vice-presidential running mates, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
Cooper announced his withdrawal from consideration moments before the event began.
“The vibes are incredible,” commented Buttigieg, while Walz expressed his eagerness to see Harris triumph over former President Donald Trump.
“Make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a Black woman kicked his a– and sent him on the road and you know that’s something that guy’s going to have to live with the rest of his life,” Walz declared.
The event was a testament to the diverse representation of white men in support of Harris.
It included performers like Josh Groban and Lance Bass, actors such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mark Hamill, Josh Gad, Paul Scheer, and Sean Astin, and their “white dude boss,” director J.J. Abrams.
Notable political figures like White House infrastructure czar Mitch Landrieu, Rep. Adam Schiff, former Sen. Doug Jones, and Rep. Steny Hoyer, who pledged a $50,000 donation match, also participated.
Actor Bradley Whitford of “West Wing” fame humorously noted, “What a variety of whiteness we have here. It’s like a rainbow of beige.”
Despite the humorous tone, the men spoke sincerely about their feelings on masculinity and their alienation from other white men, who form the core of Trump’s support base.
Broadway actor Rory O’Malley, known for his role in The Book of Mormon, emphasized the importance of showing up for Black women who have long supported progressive white men.
“Black women have been showing up to vote for progressive white dudes for generations, and it’s time we show up for them,” O’Malley stated.
Brad Bauman, a seasoned Democratic communications consultant who helped organize the event, expressed the community’s shared sentiment.
“White guys are really tired of the endless parade of weird MAGA Republicans trying to bend our democracy to its breaking point,” he told NBC News.
“They think they get us, but they don’t. And honestly, their dark vision for our future is just holding all of us back. That’s why we decided to start White Dudes for Harris.”
The event, filled with self-deprecating humor and candid discussions, marked a significant moment of solidarity and support for Vice President Kamala Harris, highlighting the unique and varied ways her supporters are mobilizing.

On the heels of their incredible fundraising event, the White Dudes for Harris on X (formerly Twitter) was suspended.
Mark Hamill tweeted, “In a little over 3 hours, the @dudes4harris Zoom call triggered $4M in donations for @KamalaHarris. Apparently, someone else was triggered, too. 🤣”
