I had the honor of sitting down with the visionary behind Netflix’s global hit for an exclusive conversation—and what he shared stuck with me long after our interview wrapped.
When I asked Hwang what he hopes viewers will take away once the series concludes, his answer wasn’t about plot twists or shocking deaths.
It was about us.
There’s a recurring question that comes up every season in this series — ‘Do you believe in humanity?’
That question is repeated again in Season 3, and this project was a journey to find the answer to that.
Season 3 won’t just test the characters we’ve grown attached to.
It will challenge us, the viewers, to take a long look in the mirror.
We often look at others and ask: Can I truly believe in this person’s humanity? Do they have a conscience?
But maybe the question we should be asking first is: Am I someone in whom others can find that same humanity?

It’s rare for a television series to go this deep—and even rarer for a creator to be this intentional about the message behind the madness.
