It’s with a heavy heart that I report Atatiana Jefferson‘s mother, Yolanda Carr, passed away early Thursday morning after battling congestive heart failure.
The news of Ms. Carr’s passing comes less than three months after a Fort Worth police officer fatally shot Atatiana in her mother’s home after a neighbor called to have them perform a wellness check.

The family’s attorney, S. Lee Merritt, confirmed Yolanda Carr’s passing.
Atatiana’s father, Marquis Jefferson, passed away in November, just one month after she was killed.

I am convinced Atatiana’s parents died of broken hearts.
I take comfort in know they are all together again in heaven.
