Skai Jackson Seeks Protection Amid Abuse Allegations
Skai Jackson, the Disney Channel alum and new mom, has filed for a restraining order against her son’s father, Deondre Burgin, in L.A. County Superior Court.
The 23-year-old actress alleges a disturbing pattern of abuse, with the most recent incident occurring on Mother’s Day—while she was holding their newborn son, Kasai.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Skai claims that Burgin grabbed her by the hair, slammed her head against a car window, and punched her in the face.
Pattern Of Alleged Abuse
Skai alleges that the abuse was ongoing throughout their relationship, detailing a six-month period of weekly violence.
She claims that Burgin choked her, scratched her, and slammed her head into walls.
The documents also include horrifying accusations that while pregnant, Burgin held her at knifepoint, demanded she drink bleach to kill their unborn child, and threatened to stab her if she cried out for help.
She also claims he destroyed her belongings—including an iPhone and a television—and said she has video evidence of one attack where Burgin allegedly punched through a bathroom door, slammed her into a wall, and choked her until she couldn’t breathe.
This isn’t the first time Skai Jackson has made headlines involving allegations of domestic violence—but the roles were reversed.
In 2024, Skai was arrested at Universal CityWalk following an altercation with her then-boyfriend—Deondre Burgin.
According to law enforcement, security footage showed Skai pushing him multiple times during a heated argument.
Although both denied any physical confrontation, deputies cited Skai for misdemeanor domestic battery after determining she was the primary aggressor.
She was arrested, cited, and released within a few hours.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later declined to press charges, citing her lack of criminal history, the alleged victim’s lack of injuries, and his refusal to cooperate with prosecutors.
A Mother’s Priority: Kasai’s Safety
A source close to Jackson told PEOPLE that the restraining order was filed out of concern for her family’s well-being.
“The safety and well-being of her family is the top priority,” the insider said. “This restraining order was filed as a necessary measure to protect her and her child from continued harassment and threats.”
Public Praise Followed By Private Pain
Oddly enough, just days before filing for the restraining order, Skai took to social media on May 8 to wish Deondre a Happy Birthday and thank him for being a great dad.
In January 2025, she introduced their son Kasai to the world with a photo of his hands and the caption: “Kasai 🧸🤎.”
At the 56th NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors the following month, she shared that being a new mom had been so exciting and rewarding.
“I feel like being a mom and juggling everything probably has to be one of the hardest jobs, but it’s such a rewarding job because I’m doing it for him at the end of the day.”
Chile…Keke Palmer, Halle Bailey, Skai Jackson, and their baby daddies! 🤦🏾♀️
