Shoniqua Shandai Heads To Detroit

It’s official! Shoniqua Shandai, best known for bringing Angie to life on Prime Video’s “Harlem,” is stepping into a brand-new role.

Deadline reports she’s joining the cast of BET’s hit series “Diarra From Detroit” for its highly anticipated second season.

Shandai will play Raqueeba, Diarra’s sassy and opinionated cousin who’s sure to bring even more spice and laughs to the story.

Considering Shandai’s knack for delivering bold, scene-stealing performances, we can already see Raqueeba becoming a fan favorite.

What “Diarra From Detroit” Is All About

If you missed Season 1, let me catch you up.

The series follows Diarra (played by creator, writer, and executive producer Diarra Kilpatrick), a divorcing schoolteacher who refuses to believe she’s been ghosted by her rebound Tinder date.

Determined to get answers, she ends up uncovering a decades-old mystery buried deep in the Detroit underworld.

Along the way, Diarra teams up with a quirky crew of co-workers, friends, and lovers.

The search for the truth takes them on a wild ride filled with danger, twists, and plenty of secrets.

Season 2 Cast And Production

In addition to Kilpatrick, “Diarra From Detroit” will see the return of Bryan Terrell Clark, DomiNque Perry, and Jon Chaffin.

The show is produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, with heavy hitters Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott executive producing alongside Kilpatrick.

With Shoniqua Shandai now on board, Season 2 is shaping up to be even more unpredictable and entertaining.

Shoniqua Shandai’s Career Moves

Shandai recently wrapped “Harlem” after three seasons, where her performance as Angie earned her plenty of fan love.

She’s also appeared in TNT’s “I Am the Night,” Paramount TV’s “Nobodies,” and the Eminem-produced film “Bodied.”

Her comedic timing, charisma, and ability to light up the screen make her the perfect addition to the already dynamic “Diarra From Detroit” cast.
