According to reports, the 38-year-old singer, whose full name is Sammie Lee Bush, was later released on a $1,050 bond.

When TSR broke the story, Sammie didn’t waste any time hopping into their comment section to address the situation.

Though he didn’t reveal what led to the arrest, his message made it clear he felt the outlet should have reached out to him before publishing.

He wrote:

“TSR yall know better 💙🫶🏾.

Should’ve hit me & my team first for the facts opposed for click bait, yall know how I rock.

Yall brought me back career wise.

But I see yall pushing the agenda of negativity and that’s fine.

God bless yall 💙🫶🏾.

I pray the apologies are as loud as the lies and offenses.”

One commenter responded to Sammie writing:

@sammiealways pushing the agenda of negativity how?

You’re a superstar… did you not think this would come up?

Maybe addressing why you were arrested for what you were arrested for would have been better than tryna blame somebody for posting your charges.

Clarifying The Cruelty To Children Charge

Many fans were confused about why Sammie was arrested and what exactly “cruelty to children” meant in this case.

In Georgia, cruelty to children in the third degree is typically a misdemeanor charge that applies when a child witnesses a forcible felony, battery, or family violence battery.

That means the charge doesn’t necessarily imply direct harm to a child, but rather that a child may have been present during a violent incident.

Still, it’s a serious legal matter that often carries emotional and professional consequences.

At this time, Sammie hasn’t offered further details about the circumstances leading to his arrest or who was involved.

Fans, however, have been vocal online, expressing everything from disappointment to prayers of support.

Despite his family drama and arrest, Sammie had a time performing at the One Music Festival in Atlanta over the weekend.

Sammie’s Career And Next Steps

For longtime fans who grew up singing “I Like It” and “Come With Me,” this arrest comes as a surprise.

Sammie has spent years rebuilding his reputation in the R&B space, from joining The Millennium Tour to dropping new music that resonates with his loyal audience.

Whether this incident derails that progress or becomes a moment of reflection remains to be seen.

What’s certain is that Sammie seems determined to control the narrative and keep his faith front and center.

As the story develops, I’ll keep you posted.
