Netflix just dropped the official trailer for Ruth & Boaz, a fresh, faith-filled take on one of the most timeless love stories in the Bible, brought to life through the powerhouse partnership of Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin.
The film hits the streaming platform on September 26, and based on the trailer alone, you might want to grab a tissue and prepare to catch some feelings.
A Timeless Story, Told With Modern Heart
Ruth & Boaz reimagines the beloved biblical tale as a contemporary love story set in Tennessee.
Ruth is a young woman who leaves behind the chaos of Atlanta’s music scene to care for an elderly widow, and in the process, finds a deeper sense of purpose, unconditional love, and the maternal connection she’s always longed for.
The trailer, beautifully narrated by Phylicia Rashad, reminds us that every great love story begins with truth, trust, and sometimes… tragedy.
Powerhouse Creators Behind The Film
This project marks the beginning of a multi-picture creative partnership between Perry, Franklin, and Netflix, with a mission to deliver inspiring, faith-based films to a global audience.
“I’m thrilled to kick off my partnership with DeVon Franklin with Ruth & Boaz,” Perry shared.
“This story is powerful, and I couldn’t be more excited for the world to get this first look.”
Franklin echoed the sentiment, calling Ruth & Boaz a “true labor of love” and emphasizing the story’s generational impact.
Directed by Alanna Brown (Trees of Peace), and written by Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar) and Cory Tynan (Play’d), the film is executive-produced by Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, and Bart Lipton.
