Today, the Hip Hop legend Biz Markie was laid to rest in New York, and Roxanne Shante shared a special childhood promise that she made to Biz.
She said when they were young they went to a double feature movie and she promised Biz that when he passed she would reenact a scene from The 36 Chambers of Shaolin.
She stated to the crowd how the era of hip hop that she grew up in was an era in which your word is everything.
Let me tell you one thing about my era, your word is everything.
She then proceeded to wrap the sheet around her, while shouting out the hotel that she took the sheet from.
And, she set the scene and gave an emotional reenactment of the scene from The 36 Chambers of Shaolin. .
I need to say this to my brother… You have done well!
And, you have left me… one of the things that you loved the most… one of your most priced possessions.
You have left me with!

She closes with an amazing embrace with Biz Markie’s DJ Cutmaster Cool V, who produced and DJ’d for Biz for over 30 years.
