Robin Roberts on Ellen Show almost turned down 2012 interview with Barack Obama

Robin Roberts visited the “Ellen Show” and revealed she almost turned down an interview with President Barack Obama in 2012.

While chatting with Ellen, Robin shared that President Obama was expected to change his stance on marriage equality and she was afraid of being outed.

In 2021, I got a call to go to the White House and that there was a possibility that then President Barack Obama would change his stance on marriage equality.

I had not been public yet about being gay and I was afraid that I might be outed.

That people might wonder why is she the one interviewing the president when he is making this change in his stance.

And then, it was kinda like a scene from ‘Moonstruck’ – snap out of it!

Like, ‘Robin, what are you thinking?! It’s not about you. This man is going to impact countless lives.’

And it was at that moment that I said, ‘I’m going to stop letting fear keep me from the things that I want to do.’

Shortly after doing the interview, Robin Roberts took to social media and shared her partner, Amber Laign, with the world.
