Ralph Tresvant’s Emotional Return To South Boston High School
Ralph Tresvant, the iconic New Edition singer, recently shared an unforgettable full-circle moment.
The R&B legend returned to South Boston High School, the same place where he once endured painful struggles, and transformed it into a powerful reminder of resilience and growth.
Facing Struggles During His School Years
In his heartfelt post, Ralph Tresvant revealed how difficult those days were.
He was force-bused to South Boston High School for years and escorted by police as he faced racial slurs, spitting, and even bricks and eggs thrown at him.
He wrote, “This shot is deeper than it appears fam.. I use to be force bussed to this School everyday for years with police escorts and bricks, eggs, spitting, racial slurs ect.. (in the day time!)”
By tenth grade, Ralph’s life changed forever.
The success of New Edition’s hit “Candy Girl” pulled him away from school and into the spotlight, beginning a legendary music career.
Coming Back In Triumph
Decades later, Ralph Tresvant stood in front of South Boston High School once again, but this time he arrived in a Bentley for a photo shoot.
What once represented fear and adversity now symbolizes triumph and progress.
He admitted he held back tears as he reflected on how far both he and South Boston have come. In his message, he thanked fans and signed off with “UBUNTU LOVED ONES!” to express love and unity.
