The trial for one of the men accused of killing Memphis rapper Young Dolph kicked off on Monday, September 23, and it’s already delivering some explosive revelations.

During the opening statements, Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman dropped a bombshell: prosecutors believe Big Jook, the brother of Memphis rap icon Yo Gotti, allegedly put a $100,000 bounty on Young Dolph’s head.

This beef between Dolph and Gotti’s label, CMG, was no secret, but this accusation adds another layer of drama to the saga.

On the stand, Cornelius Smith, one of the alleged shooters, took the jury through a chilling account of that fateful day.

Smith admitted he was high on drugs, still grappling with the death of his 9-year-old son in 2020.

He confessed to lying to police during his initial arrest in Mississippi but claimed he decided to come clean because he had a “conscience” and knew he’d been caught.

Prosecutor Hagerman presented the court with surveillance footage showing two men firing into the window of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, the same location where Young Dolph was gunned down.

Smith confirmed the footage, stating, “That was the day we shot Young Dolph,” and identified the second gunman as Justin Johnson.

Smith further testified that both he and Johnson were aware of the $100K hit, allegedly orchestrated by Hernandez Govan, a man connected to Yo Gotti’s CMG label.

Govan, according to Smith, was trying to secure a record deal for Johnson with CMG. The two gunmen planned to split the money, handing Govan $10K, while keeping $40K each.

This trial is set to be full of shocking twists, and it’s far from over.

Let’s not forget, I previously reported that Anthony “Big Jook” Mims was shot and killed back in January after attending a funeral.

The senseless violence has got to stop!
