Paula Patton took to social media on Sunday and revealed her father, Charles Patton, recently passed away.
The actress also opened up about how the trauma of racism “weighed heavily” on him until the day he died.
My dad died recently. He grew up picking cotton in Como, Mississippi. Against all odds he became an attorney but never felt like the knee was off his neck.
That trauma weighed heavily on him until the day he died. I know he and all our ancestors are looking down on us in love and support.
In the face of all this, let’s keep love in our hearts. I love you, Dad.
