“P-Valley” creator Katori Hall and cast members Andre Watkins, Autumn Night, Uncle Clifford, and Mercedes talked about the highly anticipated return of the series in a recent interview.
Katori revealed that she is inspired by the people in her life and a lot of the characters on the show are based on her family members.
I’m so inspired by real life. I’m inspired by the people in my life.
A lot of the characters are based on family members.
Like for example, Uncle Clifford is a mixture of my real Uncle Clifford and my mama and my daddy.
Katori also revealed that she leaned on her extensive research in the world of stripping to make the show authentic, and it was important for her to give the audience a backstory on each character and make them relatable to humanize people who “we often times disregard or dismiss.”
Season 2 of “P-Valley” will consist of 10 episodes, and it picks up in the middle of the pandemic in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi.
Cast members Andre Watkins, Autumn Night, Uncle Clifford, and Mercedes give us some insight into what’s going down at the Pynk with their characters in season 2.
