When Nicki Minaj took to the streets of Twitter on Monday (September 13) to have an open dialogue with her Barbs about the COVID-19 vaccine, she was warned her words may be misconstrued and she may be labeled as an anti-vaxxer.
And that is exactly what happened.
Joy-Ann Reid kicked it off when she called out and chastised Nicki on her MSNBC show, “The Reid Report,” saying:
And people like Nicki Minaj…I have to say this: You have a platform, sister, that is 22 million followers, okay? I have 2 million followers. You have 22 million followers on Twitter.
For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives? My God, sister.
You can do better than that! You got that platform – it’s a blessing! It’s a blessing that you got that! That people listen to you. They listen to you more than they listen to me.
For you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease they don’t have to die from…Oh my God!
As a fan, as a Hip Hop fan, as somebody who was our fan…I am so sad that you did that.

But, it didn’t stop there. Multiple media outlets smacked up, flipped, and rubbed down Nicki’s tweets and the headlines were ridiculous.
Papa Bear must’ve been down for a nap because Nicki Minaj had time on Monday evening and she addressed all of it.
She began with Joy-Ann Reid, tweeting:
This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to down another black woman (by the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother to read all my tweets. “My God SISTER do better” imagine getting ur dumb ass on tv a min after a tweet to spread a false narrative about a black woman.
The two white men sittin there nodding their heads cuz this uncle tomiana doing the work chile. How sad.
But, Onika was not done. Peep her tweets below.
Last, but certainly not least, she met Meghan McCain at the door!
During her convo with fans, Nicki Minaj was simply transparent in her apprehensions about the vaccine.
She said she wanted to do more researched, she revealed she contracted COVID-19, and she told a story of what happened to someone else who allegedly suffered a side effect of the vaccine.
Long story short, she told her fans the Met Gala required you to be vaccinated, she knows being vaccinated doesn’t prevent you from contracting COVID and she wasn’t risking not being able to care for her baby.
Nicki ultimately told the Barbs if they are on the fence about the vaccine to do research and pray about it – but to do what’s best for them. Do not be bullied.
She also said she’s sure she will end up getting vaccinated to go on tour and asked her fans which vaccine they would recommend.
Everything else being reported is CAP.
