What Started As A Joke Took A Left Turn

You ever see a molehill turn into a mountain? That’s exactly what happened after Muni Long cracked a lighthearted joke about Lyfe Jennings’ hit single “Must Be Nice.”

The Made For Me singer hopped on Threads over the weekend and wrote:

“Maturing is realizing Lyfe Jennings was really a hatin ass 🥷…. ‘must be nice…’ is crazy.”

Now listen… it was clearly a joke.

But once the blogs got hold of it, the post went viral faster than your favorite auntie’s church wig in a windstorm.

Even “The Breakfast Club” ran it as a story.

Clearly, it was a slow news day.

Lyfe Jennings Responds… Twice

Now if you know Lyfe Jennings, you know he wasn’t about to let that slide quietly.

He took to Instagram and wrote: “What I do to @munilong?? It’s Sunday man damn.”

Then he doubled down in The Shade Room’s comments with this:

“Maturing is realizing that looking trough a filter of trama will have you seeing grey skies where there are only blue. I’m still a fan Miss Long. Be blessed.”

Side note: Respectfully, Lyfe—Grammarly is free. Let it bless your life.

Muni Long Claps Back Then Bows Out

Muni Long couldn’t help herself and jokingly replied: “So you wasn’t hating? 😂 Don’t lie.”

But Lyfe wasn’t finished. He posted a screenshot of her comment with a long caption that read, in part:

“Sooo u leave me a message doubling down on ya post after u said it was a joke? Callin a grown man a hating ass ni@@a is wild work even as a joke… I’ve never been that ma’am…

‘Good news is you came a long way, bad news is you went the wrong way’ – J. Cole… I’m bout to show u what writing is…”

See the post below.

At this point, Muni decided to tap out of the situation.

Muni Long Issues A Public Apology

In a classy move, Muni Long addressed it head-on with a public apology:

“Hey man, if I hurt your feelings, that’s valid. I can take that and apologize. Definitely meant it as a joke and no disrespect.

This is getting blown WAY out of proportion, which is what I said to you in my direct message.

I can’t tell you how to feel at all, again, no disrespect. I apologize. I’m done with it now. I’ve addressed you directly and publicly. Have a nice day! ❤️ -$”

Final Thoughts: Let’s All Relax

Whew! That escalated quickly.

Frens, let this serve as a gentle reminder: Everyone can’t take a joke, not everyone will find your joke funny, and some folks are always waiting for an opportunity to soak up the spotlight.

And let’s be real “Must Be Nice” is a 21-year-old song.

It must be nice… to let things go. 🙄
